This is one of my favorite go- to smoothies, along with blueberry banana. Bananas give a good sweetness, so you don’t need to add sugar. Yogurt helps add a rich creaminess and frozen strawberries help make the smoothie thick and cold. I actually usually prefer frozen fruit in smoothies for this reason. Plus, if a fruit is ripe and in season it’s too delicious for me to purée it with other ingredients. I’d rather enjoy the ripe fruit in its pure state.

For this smoothie, use almond milk to add in the almond flavor.  You can make your own almond milk.  If you wish you can strain the homemade almond milk for a smoother smoothie.  If you do not strain your almond milk, you may need to add a bit of water to help thin out the smoothie.  I find when using almond milk, protein powder, and wheat germ in my morning smoothie I don’t get hungry quite as early for lunch, so I’m less likely to snack.

Blueberry Banana Smoothie

When the weather gets hot I start craving smoothies.  Instead of buying pricey, sugary, syrup sweetened smoothies make your own.  Using yogurt as a base and frozen berries allows for a thick, cold, creamy, naturally sweet smoothie.  The frozen berries help keep the smoothie thick.  For an even thicker smoothie try using Greek yogurt.  Smoothies are a delicious snack and great for breakfast.
