Here’s a perfect warming breakfast for a cold fall day. Apple, raisins, cinnamon, cloves, and a bit of sweetness from maple syrup and brown sugar all cooked with steel cut oats. Cook a batch up for breakfast throughout the week.
Homemade applesauce brings applesauce to the next level. It has so much more flavor than jarred applesauce. Feel free to change up the spices and flavorings. Try adding some fresh chopped ginger and allspice instead of nutmeg. The lemon helps add a bit of bright flavor.

It’s apple season again. Apples have long been a favorite fruit. I especially love apple desserts. This is a fairly quick-cooking, at very easy apple topping recipe. I love using atop Browned Butter French Toast or pancakes, mixing it into plain yogurt for a dessert, or using it as a topping for vanilla ice cream.
