Avocado Honey Pudding Pops

I first made avocado ice cream back in 2010, when I had an abundance of avocadoes going ripe very quickly.  What better way to stop the ripening process then freeze them in the form of ice cream?  I used Alton Brown’s Avocado Ice Cream recipe, and it was delicious.  It reminded me a lot of green tea ice cream.  It is a bit on the grassy side, so we topped the ice cream with drizzles of honey, and it was a perfect match.

Here is an adaptation of avocado ice cream, but in the form of an ice pop.  I used honey as a sweetener, since it helps turn the savory avocado into a delicious dessert.

This beet cake is a bit like a carrot cake or zucchini bread, but made with beets.  The glaze, made with crème fraîche and orange adds a tang and brightness to the sweet cake.

Creamy, cold and chocolaty — these homemade fudge pops use all natural ingredients, and a bit less sugar than packaged fudge pops.

If using paper cups and wooden pop sticks, either insert the wooden sticks ¾ way through freezing, or lay aluminum foil over the cups, and insert the wooden stick through the foil.  The foil will help hold the stick upright.

A sweet, braided bread has been on my holiday baking list for years, but I never get around to making one. The Tuesdays with Dorie baking group is an excellent motivator for finally making braided bread for the holidays. Braided breads just look so festive!

Zesty Lemon Thumbprint Cookies with Sweet Berry Jam

Thumbprint cookies were always a Christmas cookie must in our house when I was growing up. The lemon zest is a nice flavor spark and pairs best with berry jams. I like filling the cookies with jam before baking to get a bit of gooey, chewy goodness.
