TWD – Tuesdays with Dorie
The beginning of 2013 was a bit crazy for me, so I have quite a bit of make-up to do. There were some recipes I made, but didn’t get a post up in time. Here are 5 of the missed recipes, with a brief over view. I still have 6 more recipes to go before I am fully caught up.
Focaccia, from February:
This recipe was pretty good, but I had trouble getting and keeping it soft after baking. This is not the first time I’ve had this problem when baking focaccia. I think I need to apply more olive oil to the top prior to baking. The flavor was excellent.
Madeleines, from April:
These were okay, but my oven was a bit too hot, even though it was at the temperature noted in the recipe. Next time I will turn the temperature down. I also tried to make minis, but didn’t take them out soon enough. They were edible, but very dry.
Fresh Rhubarb Upside-Down Baby Cakes, from May:
This is one of my favorite recipes so far in this book. I made one large cake. The rhubarb topping helped keep the cake moist and offer a nice tart counterpoint to the sweet cake.
Cheese and Tomato Galette, from June:
I really enjoyed this recipe as well. Super easy to make, with great flavor.
Baked Yogurt Tart, from July:
This is another favorite recipe of ours from this book. I did add a bit of lemon zest to the yogurt filling. I love you can vary it with the seasons by changing the fruit. I’m interested in trying persimmon.
