Trader Joe’s Boxed Chestnuts

Trader Joe’s Boxed Chestnuts are convenient and handy, but if you want the lovely, delicious smell of roasting chestnuts, this won’t do it.

The boxed chestnuts are great to use in stuffing, casseroles, or puréed for use soups or sauces. The creamy, sweet, and smooth nutty flavor is there. These chestnuts are good when they are part of a larger dish, and you need quite a lot of chestnuts. Of course you don’t want to peel them all on your own.

However, if you want to snack on nutty, sweet, roasted chestnuts you need to get them in the shell, score them, and roast them in the oven. I know it takes more time, but part of the experience is peeling and eating them with a group of people —talking and relaxing, and enjoying the season.
