Sweet, Summer Strawberries
Here in California we are very fortunate that strawberry season is quite long. It’s often one of the first spring/summer fruits to ripen in March or April. I’m always amazed to see strawberries at the markets in March, but they are never quite sweet enough yet. By April these ruby red berries are succulent, juicy, and sugar sweet. At the end of September, after all the other berries are gone, these red, glistening jewels still linger around, helping to extend summer’s sweet fruit season just a little bit longer.
