If you only cook for 1 or 2 people, often times a single dish will last a number of meals. Some people don’t mind eating the same dish, meal after meal. But for those of you who like some variety over a few days 1 Main Dish – 5 Ways is a good way to vary the taste. This is great to do on the weekend, and if you are cooking for 2, enlist the other person to help. Pasta is a great example…
Cook up a pound of pasta.
Make 5 different sauces, either one each night, or all at one time.
-Tomato and Basil (roast some tomatoes, sauté a crushed garlic clove and some basil in oil, add in the roasted tomatoes, season to taste with salt, and puree)
For each meal heat up the plain, cooked pasta with a different sauce.
Now, sauces usually make enough for a whole pound of cooked pasta, so freeze the unused portion of sauce for another time.
Don’t limit yourself to pasta. What else can you mix and match.
