How to Cook Everything iPhone App

Mark Bittman’s iPhone App How to Cook Everything, based on his book of the same name, is an amazing little program.  The book is humongous, and a great resource if you have an ingredient and need ideas of what to use it for, or are just looking for something new to cook for a meal.  The iPhone app puts the whole book in a portable, handy, app.

You can search recipes by ingredient, cooking technique, flavor, or recipe type (fast, make ahead etc.).  Bittman also gives variations for most recipes, as well as alternative ingredients to use if you don’t have everything on hand for a recipe.  The app also allows you to save your favorite recipes in a separate section.

It’s a great resource if you’re looking for something fast to cook or dinner at the last minute.  Maybe you need an idea for a sauce, there are plenty.  There is also a shopping section where you can make grocery lists and sort it alphabetically or by shopping aisle.

For $4.99 the How to Cook Everything app is a bit more expensive than many iPhone apps, but well worth the price.  I highly recommend this useful cooking tool.
