Blueberry Banana Smoothie

When the weather gets hot I start craving smoothies.  Instead of buying pricey, sugary, syrup sweetened smoothies make your own.  Using yogurt as a base and frozen berries allows for a thick, cold, creamy, naturally sweet smoothie.  The frozen berries help keep the smoothie thick.  For an even thicker smoothie try using Greek yogurt.  Smoothies are a delicious snack and great for breakfast.

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Serves: 2 – 8 ounce Smoothies

Ingredients

1 cup of plain, low fat yogurt (or vanilla if you wish, but it contains a lot of sugar)

1 to 1 ½ cups frozen berries, any kind you wish

1 banana

2 teaspoons honey (optional)

Equipment

Blender

Procedure

Put the yogurt in the blender first, followed by the banana, broken in half.

Add the honey if you are using it, then add the frozen berries.

Place the cover on and then blend until smooth.

Serve immediately.
